Last week for Top 5 Tuesday (hosted by Meeghan Reads and originally created by The Bionic Bookworm), I shared the top 5 book series I wanted to start this year. This week’s post is about the top 5 book series I will finish in 2024–and if I am being honest, I am not 100% sure how much I can commit to this because I am SUCH a moody reader! 😂
In fact, 2024 is turning out to be such a moody reading year for me that I still don’t have a TBR list ready for this year. So instead, here’s a list of 5 book series that I hope to finish reading in 2024 (fingers crossed!)
~ Top 5 Book Series I Will Finish In 2024 ~
Since one of my bookish goals for 2024 includes reading all my backlist books, I have decided to TRY and complete the book series that I started ages ago but never got around to finishing–either because I did not want the series to end or because life got in the way or because I ended up picking up a different series altogether. Which is why most of the book series mentioned below are books from almost ten years ago.
1. The Winner’s Curse Trilogy By Marie Rutkoski
The Winner’s Curse trilogy by Marie Rutkoski comes at the top of my list of book series that I want to finish this year. I read the first two books way back when they were first released, and then waited so long for the final book that I….forgot about it????
Thankfully, this trilogy is available at my local library now so I cannot wait to dive back into this world. I remember I absolutely fell in love with the main character, Kestrel, when I first read about her, and I am really curious if I will love this book series as much as I did ten years ago now that I am older and (somewhat) wiser.
2. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
Another great book series that I will finish in 2024, I started The Raven Cycle series way back in 2018 and wondering why I had not picked it up earlier. I remember I ended up loving this series so much that I did not want it to end and so I never really finished it.
But unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and I know that even though completing this series will break my heart, I do want to see Blue and the Raven Boys’ stories through to the end.
3. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
I read The Darkest Minds back in 2018, watched the movie in the theaters when it was first released and then was righteously heartbroken when the film did not get the praise it deserved. I never got around to finishing the series, partly because I was so upset about the backlash the film received and partly because I wanted to own the entire series before completing them again.
Now that I have the books with me, I cannot wait to dive back into this world again.
4. Renegades Trilogy by Marissa Meyer
An absolutely delightful Young Adult sci-fi series that feels like a cross between a Marvel superhero movie and Disney’s Sky High, I LOVED the Renegades when it first came out. But it took such an excruciatingly long-time for the sequel to become available in my home country, that I ended up pushing it in my backlist. Hopefully this year, I will be able to return back to this world again.
5. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
Another one of Marisssa Meyer’s amazing series–The Lunar Chronicles–a series of YA science fiction novels that are retellings of classic fairy tales like Cinderella, Rapunzel, Red Riding Hood, and Snow White, this is the final book series that I will finish in 2024 and I am actually really excited to dive back into this world. Cinder and Kai were one of my favorite couples growing up, and I cannot wait to revisit them again this year.
Weirdly enough, writing this post has got me super excited and itching to dive back into some of my old favorites again. I wonder if I will love these book series as much as I did when I first started them, or if time and age will have me thinking differently about these stories.
What are some book series that you never got around to finishing (but might complete) in 2024? Let me know in the comments below!
