The past year while I tried to learn how to balance my work life with my personal life, I watched my sister practice something that she referred to as “manifesting”. Now, I am no expert on the topic, but from what I understood the gist of it was this: if you truly believe with every fiber of your being that good things are coming your way, then the universe will align itself to make it happen for you.
And ever since she mentioned it, I couldn’t help but see it actually happening in real life…or should I say, in the lives of those around us.
For example, one of my sister’s friends who also believed in manifesting, told herself every night that one way or another, she would go to Canada and study fashion designing.
Flash forward a few months: only did she get accepted into one of the top-ranking universities in Canada, but her visa got approved without any hiccup and she will be soon on a plane headed to Vancouver.
And then there’s my sister herself, who wrote to herself every night before going to bed that she was smart enough to get As in her A levels, that her efforts were not in vain.
Well, guess who got As in her A levels?
Over the previous 12 months I have witnessed several more of these ‘manifestations’, at least enough to convince me of the power of positive thinking. Besides, isn’t the whole point of Islam is to submit to Allah and have faith that He will bring you what is good for you?
That’s why this new year, I only have one resolution as I welcome 2022: I will be patient, steadfast, and steady, firm in my belief that I am going to be just fine no matter what comes my way.
