It’s strange to think that we are already halfway done with 2024! The past 6 months have been an amazing year in books so far, and I am incredibly excited for the books coming out during the second half of 2024.
~ Top 7 Books Releasing During The Second Half Of 2024 ~
This time for my list, I have tried to cover as many genres as I can…and I have to say, the lineup looks fantastic! Here are my most anticipated books releasing during the second half of 2024.
P.S: Looking for books that were recently released? Check out this post on the most anticipated book releases from the FIRST half of 2024 here.
1. All This & More by Peng Shepherd
I LOVE a good science fiction, especially the more bizarre, futuristic and mind-bendingly creative it is. All This & More by Peng Shepherd promises to be all of that and more (forgive the pun) with an interesting little twist: in this futuristic science fiction meets reality show novel, the reader gets to decide what happens to the protagonist.
So basically it’s science fiction meets reality show meets choose-your-own-adventure. What could be better?
Genre: Science Fiction, Adult, Speculative Fiction
Release Date: July 9th, 2024
2. Hera by Jennifer Saint
I love a good retelling, and have a slightly alarming fascination with Greek mythology. So of course when I heard about Jennifer Saint’s new book Hera coming out this summer, I knew I had to pre-order a copy from my local library.
Infamous for being a jealous wife and a scheming, evil stepmother, Hera by Jennifer Saint tells the story of one of the most powerful and probably misunderstood Greek goddesses of Olympus.
And as someone who has read and loved Jennifer Saint’s previous work on retelling Greek mythology with Ariadne, I know that Hera will be another amazing feminist story too.
Genre: Fantasy, Adult, Feminist
Release Date: August 13th, 2024
3. Wisteria (Belladonna #3) by Adalyn Grace
I fell in love with Belladonna by Adalyn Grace when I first read it. A gorgeous, intriguing and suspense-filled Gothic fantasy romance, Belladonna was one of my favorite Young Adult fantasy books from 2022.
While I was not particularly happy with the way the sequel Foxglove turned out, I have to admit that I am very curious to see how Signa and Death’s story spans out in what I hope will be the final conclusion to the series. Not to mention, I adore Blythe, and I want to see more of her connection with Fate, and how all of their lives are intertwined. Which is why Wisteria is on my list of the most anticipated books releasing during the second half of 2024.
Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult, Romance
Release Date: August 20th, 2024
4. Team Canteen Rocky Road by Amalie Jahn
I fell in love with Amalie Jahn’s work after reading Phoebe Unfired–-a beautifully written, evocative Young Adult contemporary novel about a teenager trying to face her biggest fears during a post-COVID era. There’s something refreshingly sweet and honest about Amalie Jahn’s writing, which makes it so easy to resonate with her characters.
Which is why Team Canteen Rocky Road, Amalie Jahn’s next new Middle Grade series, is on my list of most anticipated books releasing during the second half of 2024. A story about 4 kids navigating friendship and the highs and lows of growing up, this is definitely going to be a sweet summer read that will melt my heart.
Genre: Middle Grade, Contemporary
Release Date: September 3rd, 2024
5. When The World Tips Over by Jandy Nelson
I have been a HUGE fan of Jandy Nelson’s works ever since I read The Sky Is Everywhere and then I’ll Give You The Sun. Both of these books are so incredibly healing and comforting to read, and beautifully navigates the complicated journey of dealing with grief and loss.
Without a doubt, When The World Tips Over is going to be one of the best books releasing during the second half of 2024. This is a story about a family broken by loss, and their journey on learning to heal together as one. I’ll have my tissue papers ready–there hasn’t been a single Jandy Nelson book that has not made me cry.
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Magical Realism
Release Date: September 24th, 2024
6. Heir by Sabaa Tahir
A BRAND NEW DUOLOGY SET IN THE AN EMBER IN THE ASHES UNIVERSE!!!!!
Honestly, need I explain myself more? An Ember In The Ashes is one of my favorite young adult fantasy series, so who is truly surprised that Sabaa Tahir’s new upcoming duology, Heir, which is a continuation of the original series from the perspective of new characters, is one of the books releasing during the second half of 2024 that I am most excited for?
This new spin-off tells the story of Quill, the nephew of Helen Aquilla who was one of the main characters from the original stories. While I am pretty sure you do not need to read the original series to dive into this new duology, I would still 1000% recommend doing so, because Helen is one of the most complex and flawed female characters I have read about in a young adult fantasy.
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
Release Date: October 1st, 2024
7. The Wild Huntress
The next title on my list of most anticipated books releasing during the second half of 2024 is by none other than Emily Lloyd-Jones. I first got to know about this author when I was approved for an ARC for one of her fantasy stories back in 2022, The Drowned Woods.
As someone who devoured The Drowned Woods in one night, I am 100% confident that her next book, The Wild Huntress, is going to be just as gorgeous and unforgettable as her previous works. Set in the same universe as her previous book, The Wild Huntress is a story about a prince, a monster-hunter and a magician gambling their lives for the chance to win a magical wish that could change their destiny. You can bet it’s at the top of my list of the best fantasy books releasing during the second half of 2024!
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
Release Date: October 8th, 2024
As I said, 2024 seems to be an amazing year for new books! What are some titles that you are looking forward to? Let me know in the comments below.
Now that I’ve read The Bone Houses I can’t wait for The Wild Huntress! All This and More sounds really interesting so I’ll definitely add that to my list (not that it needs it lol)
