Happy Tuesday guys! I am here with September’s first Top Ten Tuesday post, a weekly original meme made by the lovelies at The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s post is a tv-themed topic, and so I am going to list a few books that I wish were made into TV shows.

The Iron Fey series is one of my favorite series of all times, and it also holds a special place in my heart for being the first fey story that I read and loved. I honestly think that if turned into a tv show, The Iron Fey would be an epic series with great plot, characters and not to mention unforgettable visuals if the creators can pay tribute to Julie Kagawa’s world of the faeries.

Then imagine that people like you are hated and feared. That the government want to hunt you down and tear out your second soul, separating you from the person you love most in the world.

I read What’s Left of Me a few years back and I absolutely fell in love with it. The whole concept of having to share your body with your sibling, and they way Kat Zhang showed it, and also the government conspiracies and the science behind it all–everything about that book blew my mind. If this is turned into a tv show, I really hope J. J. Abrams directs and screenwrite it, because a tv show based on The Hybrid Chronicles would need a lot of skills and expertise, not to mention, a cast of incredibly talented actors who can play two completely different roles and switch between them smoothly and effortlessly.
Vampires, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters — they live among us without our knowledge. Night World is their secret society, a secret society with very strict rules. And falling in love breaks all the laws of the Night World.
L. J. Smith was the writer who first introduced me to YA and made me fall in love with this genre. Her Night World series would bring a whole new twist to every tv shows ever made about vampires, witches and werewolves. The best part about this series? Every book features a new cast of characters who are all connected to all the characters introduced in the books before and after them.
When Jenny buys a game for her boyfriend, Tom, she finds herself inexplicably drawn to the guy behind the counter. There is something mysteriously alluring about Julian’s pale eyes and bleached-blond hair. And when he places the Game into her hands, she knows their connection is something deeper.
But as Jenny and her six friends begin to play the Game at Tom’s birthday celebration, a night of friends and fun quickly turns into a night of terror and obsessive love. Because the Game isn’t just a game – it’s the seven friends’ new reality, where Julian reigns as the Prince of the Shadows.
One by one the friends must confront their phobias to win the Game. To lose the Game is to lose their lives. And that is only the beginning…
Another series by L. J. Smith that should be a tv show–The Forbidden Game would be a one hell of a creepy, fantasy gothic show that will definitely leave it’s viewers with goosebumps. There’s so much you can do with a myth of djinns, parallel universes, and creepy houses where every room holds your worst nightmare. What more do you need?
Drifting in the dark waters of a mysterious river, the only thing Amelia knows for sure is that she’s dead. With no recollection of her past life – or her actual death – she’s trapped alone in a nightmarish existence. All of this changes when she tries to rescue a boy, Joshua, from drowning in her river.
Tara Hudson’s Hereafter trilogy is one of my favorite underrated books of all time, and I would love to see it turned into a thriller, ghost tv show. Also, it has one of the strongest female leads I have ever read about, and not to mention, an incredibly swoon-worthy romance that will rip your heart into shreds.
Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.
I am not sure if this book series isn’t already being turned into a tv show or movie. I really hope that it gets turned into a tv show, preferably directed by J. J Abrams, because he is the only brilliant mastermind I know who can pay tribute to this amazing sci-fi world created by Marissa Meyer.

I haven’t read any of the books here Tanaz, but these books sound awesome!! I read the premise for Hereafter and that’d DEFINITELY be a show I’m interested in (so long as it’s not too scary)! And man I reaaaaaally need to finish The Lunar Chronicles soon…
I would lose my mind (in a good way) if The Lunar Chronicles were adapted. If they do do it – which they have too, right? It’s such a popular series – I hope they do a good job of it. I’m pretty good at separating the film from the book, but even when doing that I have to admit that most YA adaptations are shitty.
I LOVE adapting books into TV shows in my head. Maybe I should actually write one of them one day. A series I would be excited to see adapted (and which I think you should read), is The Diviners, by Libba Bray. It’s set in the 1920s, and it’s about these kids in New York who find they have paranormal abilities. And a lot of it is set in this creepy, run down paranormal museum in New York. There is literally nothing not to like.
